AFS Opens Call for Abstracts for FILTCON27

November 25 submission deadline; Raleigh conference to spotlight microplastics while welcoming advances across filtration and separations

The American Filtration and Separations Society (AFS) is accepting abstracts for FILTCON27, taking place April 20–22, 2027, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Raleigh-Durham/Research Triangle in North Carolina. Researchers, engineers, educators, students, and industry professionals are invited to share findings, technologies, and practical applications advancing filtration and separations.

Abstracts are due November 25, 2026.

The conference’s featured theme, “Microplastics in Filtration and Nonwovens,” will explore the role of filtration and separation technologies, filter media, and advanced materials in detecting, capturing, managing, and mitigating microplastics. The program will connect research and industry perspectives on this evolving challenge, including applications in air and water filtration, materials development, testing, and sustainability.

Alongside this featured theme, AFS welcomes submissions spanning the full filtration and separations field. Topics include air and liquid filtration, filter media and materials, separation processes, computational modeling, artificial intelligence, testing and design, and emerging applications.

FILTCON27 offers several opportunities to contribute:

  • Technical presentations: Share research, technical advances, and practical applications through 25-minute presentations.
  • Student Poster Competition: Present student research and compete for recognition and cash awards. Accepted student poster presenters receive complimentary conference registration.
  • Latest and Greatest Product Preview: Showcase products and services through 15-minute presentations available to FILTCON27 sponsors and AFS corporate members.

Presenters at all career stages are encouraged to submit. Technical and student poster abstracts should describe the work’s background and objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Submissions will be reviewed beginning in November, with acceptance notifications issued on a rolling basis no later than the end of January.

Review the submission guidelines and submit an abstract.

Conference registration and hotel reservations are also open. Visit afssociety.org/filtcon27 for event details and participation opportunities.
