OMF Article Guidelines
Purpose
OMF articles are intended to be concise, informative, focused and thought-provoking essays on a broad range of subjects related to filtration and other physical separations. Readers of these articles should gain a better technical and practical understanding of the subject matter and, therefore, be able to apply this knowledge in their workplace, research, or educational environment.
General Article Guidelines
Since the AFS was founded as an educational society, all articles should be written with this sole purpose in mind. Articles of a clearly commercial nature will not be considered for publication. Articles which promote an individual, consultant, organization, company, product brand name or proprietary products will likewise not be considered for publication.
Additional guidelines are as follows:
- Articles are limited to 300 – 500 words
- Although technical in nature, articles should be written such that readers with a basic technical background in filtration or similar technology can understand and benefit from the contents of the article.
- Articles of broader interest to persons involved with filtration and other separations are encouraged. The information communicated in OMF articles should have some practical value.
- Authors are encouraged to use charts, graphs or photos when text alone does not make the major points of the article sufficiently clear or when the article is of such an intricate nature that visuals are considered essential to proper understanding. The size of charts, photos, or other graphics should allow the article to fit within the dimensions of the AFS web page without making these graphics and their embedded labels difficult to read.
- AFS reserves the right to review each article before publication, request edits or changes, and/or ultimately not publish an article.
