Industry Networking Opportunities
FILTCON27 gives students the opportunity to build connections beyond the classroom and begin developing their professional networks within the filtration and separation industry. Students are invited and encouraged to participate in all conference networking activities alongside industry professionals, researchers, academics, and fellow emerging professionals.
From receptions and informal conversations to connections made between technical sessions, these experiences provide an opportunity to learn more about career paths, explore different areas of the industry, exchange ideas, and develop relationships with professionals from across the AFS community.
Students are encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities by introducing themselves, asking questions, and engaging with attendees throughout the conference. The connections made at FILTCON can become valuable resources as students continue their academic and professional journeys.
Student Moderator Opportunities
As part of the FILTCON27 student experience, students receiving complimentary conference registration may be asked to serve as session moderators alongside experienced AFS moderators and/or serve in other volunteer activities, such as, offering directions to attendees looking for session rooms.
This opportunities provide students the ability to become more actively involved in the conference, connect with industry professionals and technical experts, and gain firsthand experience facilitating professional and technical discussions. Student moderators will assist with welcoming speakers, keeping sessions on schedule, supporting audience Q&A, and helping ensure a positive experience for presenters and attendees.
By pairing students with experienced moderators, AFS aims to provide a supported learning experience that builds confidence, strengthens communication and leadership skills, and gives emerging professionals greater exposure to the filtration and separation community.
Additional guidance and expectations will be provided prior to the conference.
