Call for Abstracts & Submissions
Abstract Guidelines
AFS invites professionals, researchers, educators, students, and industry experts to submit abstracts for presentation at FILTCON27. The conference provides an opportunity to share new research, technical expertise, practical applications, emerging technologies, and perspectives shaping the future of filtration and separation.
We welcome proposals that advance understanding, showcase innovative approaches, address industry challenges, or encourage meaningful discussion among attendees. Submissions may explore the FILTCON27 conference theme or address other relevant topics across the broad spectrum of filtration and separation science, technology, and applications.
Presenters at all stages of their careers are encouraged to participate. Whether you are presenting new findings, highlighting a real-world application, or bringing a fresh perspective to an industry challenge, your contribution helps strengthen the exchange of knowledge that is central to FILTCON.
Before submitting, please review the guidelines below.
Abstract/Submission Formats
AFS will collect the following types of abstracts/submissions for FILTCON27.
Technical Presentations
Call for Abstracts (25-minute Presentation)
This year’s theme, Microplastics in Filtration and Nonwovens, will place a special spotlight on the growing challenges of microplastics and the role filtration, separation technologies, filter media, and advanced materials can play in their detection, capture, management, and mitigation. The FILTCON27 theme provides a featured lens, not a boundary for the technical program. FILTCON continues to welcome research, technologies, and technical advancements from across the full filtration and separations landscape.
Student Posters
Call for Submissions
Students are invited to participate in FILTCON27 by submitting a poster abstract for presentation in the Student Poster Competition.
All students who submit and are accepted for the Student Poster Competition will receive a waived conference registration. Post-docs ARE NOT eligible to participate in the Student Poster Competition. The first-place winner will receive a $1,500 prize, with additional prizes of varying amounts awarded based on the competition results.
Latest and Greatest Presentation
Call for Submissions (15-minute Presentation)
The Latest and Greatest Product Preview presentations will be integrated into the program. Product demos are a powerful way to showcase your products and services and how your company is advancing the industry.
This type of presentation is limited to FILTCON27 sponsors and AFS corporate members.
Abstract/Submission Preparation
- Abstracts/Submissions will only be accepted through the online abstract/submission site.
- For technical presentations and student posters, please use the general abstract format of background & objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. The full abstract text may not exceed 1,000 words.
- Abstracts with exception of Latest and Greatest Presentation category, should be technical in nature.
- Abstract keyword(s) must be selected during the abstract submission process (see list below).
- Abstracts must be submitted in English. Please use American English spelling.
- Tables, charts, or other graphics may not be included.
- The presenting author of an accepted abstract must register and attend FILTCON27.
- There are no submission limits per author for FILTCON27.
Review & Notification
Each abstract will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the AFS Scientific & Test Methods Committee starting in November. Each reviewer will receive author name(s) and affiliation(s) along with the abstract and will be asked to declare conflicts of interest with individual abstracts. Upon completion of the review, the final decision of placement within the FILTCON27 program will be made by the FILTCON Planning Committee.
Notification of acceptance/rejection will be sent on a rolling basis via email. All notifications will be sent no later than the end of January.
