AFS FiltCon 2023 Plenary Highlight: Wu Chen of Dow to Present “The Role of Filtration and Separation in Sustainability”
Dr. Wu Chen, Principal Research Scientist at Dow, will open the conference’s events on Wednesday, May 3, at 8:30 a.m. with a plenary presentation at FiltCon 2023. This premier industry filtration event will take place May 1-3 in Louisville, KY.
Achieving global sustainability is a massive challenge with goals so tremendous, no one can do it alone. It requires the participation of all industries, companies and people. This presentation will dig deep into how filtration and separation are contributing to this grand effort.
This plenary will cover key sustainability initiatives in carbon reduction, renewable materials, circularity and water. In carbon reduction (either pre-combustion or post-combustion), amine filtration, membranes and adsorbents play very important roles. For renewable materials, solid/liquid separation often are major challenges. For circularity, filtration and purification are often key technology and economic barriers. For water and wastewater treatment, water reuse and water conservation, filtration and separation have been playing a critical role in response to the demand for better technologies.
In all sustainability efforts, filtration and separation are crucial to advance the required technologies and achieve a state of shared water and air that can sustain life and prosperity for future generations.
