Upcoming AFS Short Courses: Designing Filter Media for Air Filtration, Air Filter Design Process
The AFS is presenting two two-hour short courses in December: “Designing Filter Media for Air Filtration” and “Air Filter Design Process,” both taught by air filtration expert Thad Ptak.
These courses are designed for people who are new to the filtration industry, either in technical, sales, or business functions. They are also good courses for those who have been in the industry for a while to get a better understanding of the fundamentals of filter media and how they can be used for practical applications.
Designing Filter Media for Air Filtration - Thursday, 12/9, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm central
This course introduces the basics of the filter media design process. it provides fundamental information on air filtration principles, filter media manufacturing processes, media properties, and testing. Dr. Ptak will present filter media design process using filtration theory, properties having an impact on filtration performance and filter manufacturability.
Learning Objectives
- Practical aspects of filtration theory
- Filter media classifications
- Filter media properties
- Performance and other requirements
Course Chapters
- Introduction and background information
- Filtration theory and direction for the media design process
- Types of filter media, manufacturing process, and properties
- Testing
Air Filter Design Process – Thursday, 12/16, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm central
This course introduces the basics of the filter design process for air filtration applications. It provides fundamental information on filter performance requirements, filter components, filter manufacturing processes, and testing. Dr. Ptak will discuss filter design process for specific performance and environmental requirements, design for manufacturability and filter performance validation.
Learning Objectives
- Filter components
- Filter design process
- Performance and environmental requirements
- Testing and validation
Course Chapters
- Components of filters
- Filtration performance and other requirements
- Design process
- Design validation
The fee for each course is $245 for members and $295 for nonmembers.
