Liquid Filtration Testing Basics

The Liquid Filtration Testing Basics Short Course is an introductory course on liquid filtration testing, testing methods, and the standard equipment and instruments used. The course will cover filter test techniques and standards for water, fuel, lube oil, hydraulic fluids, and other industrial liquids. In addition, particle characteristics and efficiency methods and ratings will be reviewed.

The following job positions will benefit most from this course: Filtration Design Engineers, Filtration Product Managers, Filtration Users, Liquid Process Managers, Solid Liquid Separation Researchers, New Product Development Managers, Filter Media Developers, Laboratory Researchers and Laboratory Managers.

The course will be taught by Nicolas Petillon, Chief Technology Officer at IFTS.  Nicolas has worked in the filter testing and measurement laboratory environment for more than 20 years.  He is lead project leader in several ISO committees to develop oil and fuel filtration test standards.

Reverse Osmosis System Design

The design of reverse osmosis treatment systems utilizing spiral wound membrane elements is affected by numerous factors such as feed water quality and temperature. The quality of the permeate stream is a function of the specific design and requires a thorough understanding of a number of design parameters.

Data are initially provided in handouts to give the participants the necessary tools, and then a problem is handed out to each participant. After an appropriate period of time, the problem solution is handed out and discussed.

Taught by Peter Cartwright, this course is directed towards engineers and other professionals involved in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of reverse osmosis systems.

Peter has been in the water and wastewater treatment industry for 43 years and has had his own consulting engineering company since 1980. He has delivered over 300 lectures and written the same number of articles on water/wastewater treatment technologies. He was the 2016 Distinguished McEllhiney Lecturer for the National Groundwater Association and is an active member of most of the water-related organizations.

Fees are $495 for members/$595 for non-members for the first course, and $395 for members/$495 for non-members for each subsequent course taken in 2020. Upon completion, attendees will receive a certificate of completion and earn 0.4 CEU credits per course. Course handout will be supplied prior to the course. Handout is to be used by only the course participants.
