Next AFS Webinar: Aspects of Designing Media and Filters for Air Filtration

The American Filtration and Separations Society continues to provide world-class filtration educational programming through our new AFS Learning Center. Taught by filtration industry veterans, AFS Short Courses are well known for their high quality and offer .4 CEU credits for each class. AFS members and attendees to any of our 2020 live webinars will receive a discount.

Our next Short Course is Aspects of Designing Media and Filters for Air Filtration, which will be presented on Thursday, July 30, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. central time.

This course gives the basis for a better understanding of air filtration theory when applied to filter media and filters, and how other filter requirements, such as environmental regulations, durability and manufacturability have an impact on filter media design. The theoretical principles and practical knowledge gained during this course will allow the participant to be able to properly design and specify filters and filter media for specific applications.

This course will be of interest to engineers, and other technical personnel concerned with air filtration, the design process of filters and filter media, manufacturing and marketing.  Attendees will find the course informative, regardless of whether they design, manufacture, purchase or use filter media and filters for air filtration applications. Attendees should have some experience and knowledge of air filtration prior to attending this course.

Dr. Thad Ptak will teach this course. He has over 30 years of experience in filtration technologies, aerosol science and indoor air quality. He has conducted extensive research in the areas of development of filter media and filters, portable air cleaners, indoor air quality, sensors for IAQ and instrumentation for particle generation and measurement.

Currently Dr. Ptak has his own consulting company specializing in providing solutions in the areas described above. He was involved in the research, development and manufacturing of products and technologies in consumer products, HVAC, portable air cleaner and automotive filtration applications for several different organizations including AO Smith, Columbus Industries, StrionAir and ArvinMeritor.

Dr. Ptak has presented more than 50 technical papers related to the particle technology and filtration field, chaired and organized several sessions and co-chaired a filtration conference. He actively participates in technical societies and numerous standard committees.

Fees are $495 for members/$595 for non-members for the first course, and $395 for members/$495 for non-members for each subsequent course taken in 2020. Upon completion, attendees will receive a certificate of completion and earn 0.4 CEU credits per course. Course handout will be supplied prior to the course. Handout is to be used by only the course participants.
