Filtration & Separation Asia 2006

The American Filtration & Separations Society (AFS) provided a strong showing of support for Filtration & Separation Asia 2006 and Filtration China 2006, held November 15-17 in Shanghai, China. The event was a combined technical conference and exhibit, sponsored by China Technology Market Association.

"AFS is committed to education and training in the field of Filtration and Separations, and we lived up to that promise this week in Shanghai, China”, said Tom Ramsey of Porex Filtration, AFS Vice Chairman.

With 87 exhibitors, 18 technical papers and close to 3000 visitors over three days, this was an enormously successful event. We are very pleased that AFS members were able to provide more than 25% of the technical program.

Participating AFS members included Past AFS Chair, Ed Homonoff, of Edward C. Homonoff and Associates; AFS Treasurer, Norm Lifshultz, of Hollingsworth & Vose; AFS Board Member, Ken Rubow, of Mott Metallurgical, AFS Board Member K.J. Choi, of AAF International and AFS Members Lutz Bergmann, of Filter Media Consulting and Peter Tsai of The University of Tennessee.

AFS educational support of the emerging filtration and separations technologies in China will build a bridge to this important global market for our membership.

The Asian market is the fastest economic growth area in the world. With more than half of the global population in Asia, it is the largest real and potential market of filtration and separation products in the world.

The GDP of China is increasing by almost 10% each year. In 2004 the total amount of foreign trade with China exceeded 1,000 Billion USD. The filtration and separation industry is becoming one of the fastest developing industries in China.
