Five prestigious AFS awards were presented on May 9 during the AFS awards luncheon:
The Young Scientist Award was presented to Benjamin Fuchs, PhD. This award was established in 1999 and honors individuals at the beginning of the filtration career. Dr. Fuchs is a Research Engineer at DuPont with over 25 international publications and 4 patents. He was nominated by Karsten Keller
The Senior Scientist Award was presented to Harold Anlauf, Dr. Ing. This aware was established in 1999 and honors individuals in the middle of their filtration career. Dr. Anlauf has worked with Professor Werner Stahl at the University of Karlsruhe with over 100 international publications and over 20 government and industry funded research projects in the area of filtration. He was also nominated by Karsten Keller.
The Frank Tiller Award was presented to Tadeusz Jaroszczyk. This award honors a lifetime of scientific and engineering achievement in the filtration industry. “Dr. Tad” has over 35 years experience in the field of filtration and separations science with 18 filter patents and innumerable proceedings papers. He served 2 terms on the AFS Board and chaired two AFS Topical Conferences on Diesel Emissions and was nominated by Barry Verdegan.
The Fellow Member Award honoring superior contributions to the organization and leadership of AFS was also presented to Dr. Jaroszczyk. He was nominated for this award by Martin Lehman,
The Wells Shoemaker Award honoring a lifetime of outstanding leadership and service to the AFS was presented to Wallace Leung, PhD. Dr. Leung was the AFS Chair in 2000; the Chairman for WFC9 (World Filtration Congress) 2004 held in New Orleans and the 1993 AFS Annual Conference Chair. In addition, Dr. Leung served on the AFS Executive Committee 1998-2002, AFS Education Committee 1995-2004, and the AFS Publication Committee 2001-present. He was nominated by Dr. Wu Chen.
